Dato’ Syed Zainal Syed Mohamad Tahir, Proton managing director is reported tendered his resignation from the National Carmaker helm just days before launching of Proton Preve. Themalaysianinsider, has confirmed this news but still there is no official announcement so far to Proton employee according to Proton internal source. If this news is true, Its huge loss to Proton considering Syed Zainal effort of reviving Proton from all time sales low to more than 27% of TIV at this moment.
Its clearly that DRB Hicom, the new Proton owner is imposing strict business measure including plan to sell loss making group Lotus, which Syed Zainal not so happy on the move. Admin think, DRB has its right and for loss making carmaker, a back to basic business is necessary including join venture with major automaker.
*Update*
Proton yesterday released a statement that Syed Zainal still with Proton and continue his duty as Managing Director. Refer to below:
“We refer to the news report in The Edge Financial Daily dated April 10, 2012 the resignation of Proton’s group managing director, Datuk Seri Haji Syed Zainal Abidin Syed Mohamed Tahir.
