The all new Honda Civic is set to be launched by Honda Malaysia in July following its ASEAN premier in Thailand last month. It should be launched much earlier but was halted due to flood disaster which engulfed Thailand’s Ayuthaya plant. As the plant now resumes its operation, supply of pressed parts to Pagoh plant has been recovered for the plant to resume its business as usual.
This all new Civic is more to major facelift rather than ‘all new’ term. It because Honda has retains most of its predecessor exterior’s and interior’s styling. The exterior is rather step forward due to more ‘soft’ lines with muscular surface styling while the interior can be say as not good as its predecessor. The instrument panel become more ‘solid’ with edgy lines make its looks cheap. The gear and parking brake lever have turned to more conventional design compare to the 8th generation which offered space saving on lower center console.
As for variant offering, Honda Malaysia is likely to offer traditional varian for Civic with two engine variant which is 1.8l SOHC I-Vtec and 2.0l DOHC I-Vtec mated with 5 speeder transmission. Its also been reported that it also comes with ECON mode to optimizie fuel saving. Its engine also has been improved with additional 4Nm torque for each variant.
Admin think this car will selling well again here as the outgoing model has strong sales even though it enters its phase out timing. Personally, the exterior design is very good especially its rear combination lamp and projector lamp makes the car more sharp. The interior is a drawback and look a step behind but its unlikely to affect the potential buyers.
